MIXED SPECIES SPINNERBAITING
- Will Lee & Robbie Wells

Fishing for native fish species in man-made dams or impoundments can be a real challenge, especially if it's your first time. With a variety of scenarios ranging from deep water drop-offs to bank-side shallows and sunken timber to choose from, and a range of different species to consider, where do you begin? Will and Robbie offer some very practical tips to get you started, and all with just one type of lure: The super effective spinnerbait. After seeing this segment, we bet you won't go fishing without one of these fabulous lures!

SOMERSET BASS

SOMERSET BASS
- Trent Short and Dave Young

Trent and Dave take us to the very "heartland" of south eastern Queensland's prolific impoundment bass fishery: mighty Lake Somerset, situated on the upper Brisbane River about 100 km from the state capital's busy CBD. Here they demonstrate a deadly technique for finding and catching big, schooling Australian bass in our dams. Pin-pointing the fish with their depth sounder, the guys hold position above them using a bow-mounted electric motor before presenting tail spinners vertically to the suspended fish. This is the very essence of productive still-water bass fishing, and 10 minutes spent watching these pros at work will teach you more than a year on the water fishing on your own!

WINTER YELLOWBELLY

WINTER YELLOWBELLY

Catching golden perch or yellowbelly in our outback dams during the cooler months of the year can be a challenge, especially on lures. But as Matt and Kiel prove in this great segment, if the fish are there, they can usually be caught! Success might depend on trying a range of different lures and varying your presentation strategies, but if you stick with it, you should eventually crack a pattern and potentially enjoy the sort of red-letter day that the guys did!
